"Ansco Cameras"
AQnsco (Binghamton, NY, USA)
Formed as Anthony & Scovill by the merger of the E.& H.T.Anthony Co. and Scovill & Adams in 1902. The name was shortened to Ansco
in 1907. A merger with the American interests in the German firm of Agfa in 1928 formed Agfa Ansco. In 1939, Agfa Ansco changed
its name to General Aniline & Film Corporation, but still used the Agfa Ansco name in advertising until 1943 when the Agfa name
was dropped. The Ansco Division of General Aniline kept its name as the main banner of the company until the company name was
officially shortened to GAP in 1967. More recently, GAP withdrew from the consumer photographic market but the Ansco name
continues as part ofHaking International.
