Kodak Bantam (Flash) The Kodak Bantam was introduced in June 1935. It was a cute, small folding type camera, that has become a great and sought after collectible because of its cuteness, but...... using the new, paper backed rollfilm in 35mm size-but no sprockets. It was designated 828, the film size, and hence the cameras were not a great success, and while there are a few other cameras that used the 828, the Kodak Bantams are mostly all you will see and not many of them. This is a 1947-48 US made Flash Bantam, the first model with flash synch. The whole thing is only 4 1/2" long and 2 1/4" high, and when folded is only an inch or so thick. Despite its size, it is a robust and relatively heavy camera with solid metal body and lens standard. Has an f4.5 Anastigmat Special lens in a 4 speed plus B&T shutter. Has a folding optical frame viewfinder. Comes with its original leather case. ~ All in very good condition, leather covering is complete and unshrunken. Folds and unfolds easily. Shutter works. | |

Kodak 1A Folding Pocket Model D The No1A Folding Pocket Kodak Model D was made from 1909 to 1915.But this is an early one, with red bellows and a seriel number that indicates production about 1910-11.It has red morrocan leather bellows, still with good form and shape, slightly faded. This camera had the domed front door, and self erecting scissor strut folding mechanism. The model D had the metal lens standard, replacing the wood of the Model C and earlier models. The body and sides are leather covered wood, with lovely polished wood interior film chambers. The back is actually aluminium, which Kodak had used on all Folding Pocket Kodaks from 1897. With an English made wooden PRINTING OUT frame, specifically made for use with this camera, and so marked. This is a truly rare item, the camera being scarce enough in itself. ~ This camera is in exc condition and the tricky latch on the back of these works well on this one. The leather covering is complete and not shrunken or lifting.

Kodak No 1 Pocket Junior A No 1A Pocket Kodak Junior. Made early 30s in the US, it is a self erecting Kodak folder taking 116 film.Post the "autographic" era, it has no flap in the back. This one is unusual in that it has the Kodak Doublet lens. This is not the best lens that was available in this camera, but it has a striking appearance, with the name around the lens bezel, and is quite scarce. It has the lovely art deco printed "Kodak" on the standing "foot" Under that, is inscribed "J. Head 1934" . A scarce model of a style of camera that is getting harder to find. The camera is in very good display order, (see pics) but the bellows have a lot of holes and the lens is cloudy. There is some chipping to the black paintwork Leather is complete and unshrunken. It folds and unfolds easily, but I would put it on display and not fold it up to often with the fagility of the bellows. |

Stock No 2448
Kodak Vest Pocket A landmark camera in many ways an ORIGINAL model Vest Pocket Kodak. The 1st camera to take 127 film which was introduced in 1912 by Kodak specifically for THIS camera. This camera was made in 1912. It is recognizable as the 1st model as it has square cornered bellows, its name on the front panel, and only the 1902 patent date, there are no patent dates on the round removeable section of the back. The viewfinder has the cylindrical grip to rotate it. Most of these features were altered late in 1912. Finished in black emamel, this is the 1st model of a camera that went on to become one of Kodak's most successful items, selling over 2 million in various models up to the mid 30's. The compactness of the folded camera, 4 3/4 x 2 1/2 x 1" made it truly "Vest Pocket" sized, and it became a favourites of the US troops in World War 1, earning it the name of "The Soldiers Camera", something Kodak encouraged in their marketing of course, despite the fact that troops were not supposed to carry cameras. But this is the 1st of them all. ~ This one is reasonable condition, the early Ball Bearing shutter works, the trellis struts are all still strong and straight. The bellows are still firm and well formed. The black enamel finish has quite a bit of wear. There are no dings or dents in the aluminium body. There is one non original screw in on the front panel. Comes with a solid leather case. This is a truly scarce camera that made an impact on photography as it was in 1912 and continued through the next 20 odd years. There are two penny-halfpenny stamps stuck on either side of the bellows. I do not know if they have been put there for decoration, or if there was a hole in the bellows. You cannot get to the inside of the bellows to check without taking the front off the camera. (This camera loads from the side, not the back) So if may be a bonus of 4 very old stamps as well.
